A complete shutdown and wheel jam strike was launched on the call of nationalist, social and political parties in different cities of Sindh against the construction of six controversial canals from the Indus River. Due to which business activities across the province were paralyzed, while the protests and protests caused passengers to suffer severe problems.
The roads were deserted due to a full shutdown strike on the national highway in Nowsheroviros. Hotel owners doubled the prices of food items, knowing the opportunity, which further increased the problems of the passengers.
In Khairpur, protesters suspended the transportation of trains by holding a sit -in on the railway track. Demonstrators said that if the plan was not stopped, the rail system would also paralyze. There was a complete shutdown strike in the city.
The national highway in Gumbat was closed, passengers were helpless on the streets in the heat. Demonstrators warned that the protests will continue until the canal projects are withdrawn.
A complete strike was also seen in Larkana, Ratodero and Bakrani. Jinnah Bagh Chowk staged a protest by nationalist parties. Heavy police personnel were deployed in the roads and markets.
In Jacobabad, there was a complete shutdown strike on the call, workers continued to patrol the business areas and shut down open shops, causing problems for citizens to obtain food items.
The roads were closed on the national highway in Matiari, while a complete shutdown strike was seen in the city. Demonstrators said the canals would damage local agriculture and land.
There was a complete strike in Jamshoro, Mirpurkhas, Badin and Thatta. The main bazaar and petrol pumps were closed in Mirpurkhas, while business centers were completely closed in Badin and its suburbs.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister of State for Sports Das Kohistani was attacked by Sindh Progressive Party activists with tomatoes and eggs in Thatta, which two persons were arrested. Police have confirmed the incident.
Nationalist parties have warned that the scope of the protest will be extended if the federal government does not withdraw the controversial canal projects.
